About Mare Santo
Mare Santo (https://maresanto.com) Mare Santo is a unique Slovenian sparkling wine produced in the Brda wine region and aged in the Slovenian sea. The project combines tradition, innovation, and deep respect for natural processes.
In the darkness of the northern Adriatic Sea, under stable temperatures, natural pressure, and free from light and sound disturbances, Mare Santo matures more slowly, calmly, and elegantly.
This is not merely underwater aging.
It is a dialogue with the sea.
At the heart of this unique concept is Igor Tomažič, a respected Slovenian winemaker whose dedication to excellence and respect for nature led to the creation of something entirely original.
In collaboration with Ivo Boscarol, a globally recognized entrepreneur and aviation pioneer, the project evolved into an initiative that goes beyond conventional winemaking practices.
The two-year underwater aging process helps create the sparkling wine’s distinctive character and identity. Each bottle is shaped by the sea itself over time, making every piece completely unique. The surface of the bottles naturally becomes covered with seashells and marine organisms, giving each one an authentic and highly individual appearance.
Mare Santo is not merely a premium sparkling wine, but a complete experience with a meaningful story. It often accompanies important life moments, celebrations, and milestones, creating lasting memories. Even after opening, the bottle retains its aesthetic and symbolic value as a decorative or artistic object.
Over the years, Mare Santo has received several international recognitions, including one of the highest distinctions at last year’s World’s Finest Glass of Bubbly competition in London.
These latest international awards further confirm the growing recognition of the Mare Santo brand in premium markets and the increasing appreciation for authentic stories that connect nature, tradition, and innovation.
