Nomination by the Delo newspaper for “Personality of the year 2022”

Since 1990, the Delo newspaper has been awarding the honorary title of “Personality of the Year” to the person who made the biggest impact on the past year.
The director and co-owner of the Pipistrel company, Ivo Boscarol, has been nominated as the Personality of the Year by the Delo editorial board three times previously. After his nominations in 2008 and 2009, in the 2011 the readers gave him the most votes for the first time and thus awarded him the title of “Delo’s Personality of the Year 2011”, when his Pipistrel won NASA competition for the best aircraft for the third time in a row. Ivo Boscarol had convinced the Americans with the first hybrid four-seat aircraft, the Taurus G4. As the Technical Director of NASA, Mr. Joe Parris said, that achievement had moved the future of electric-powered aircraft from science fiction to reality.

This year, Ivo was once again nominated for Personality of the Year and therefore received his fourth nomination, mainly for the millions of donations he made to his municipality after the sale of his company.
Among the nominees for 2022 were the leaders of the intervention at the Karst wildfire, Mr. Simon Vendramin and Mr. Stanko Močnik; the Inštitut 8. Marec for youth activation in relation to social problems; the astrophysicist Mrs. Maruša Bradač, who participates at the Webb space telescope; Mr. Matjaž Šerkezi, an expert associate of the Mountaineering Association of Slovenia and mountain rescuer; and Mrs. Živa Ploj Peršuh and Mr. Tomo Peršuh, who helped with evacuation of young musicians from Ukraine to Slovenia. In the end, the award went to Mr. Marjan Pipenbaher – civil engineer who designed the Pelješac Bridge.
